"When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout the victory!!" Sallie "Pearl" Mars Anderson was rejoicing on Dec. 15, 2014 as she entered the presence of the Lord and joined her husband, Charlton. Pearl was born September 19, 1916 in Noxubee County to Dr. & Mrs. Henry Fred Mars. She grew up in Macon, MS where her father practiced medicine.

Over 98 years, Pearl was provided many blessings and accomplishments as she walked with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In 1939 after completing college at East Mississippi Junior College and Mississippi Southern College for Women, she moved to Jackson. She enjoyed living in the "big city" and attended Galloway United Methodist Church. She worked at Sears & Roebuck and during World War II, she worked for The Mississippi Ordinance Plant as a civil service employee. After the Mississippi Coliseum was built, she became the manager of promotions and ticket sales where she worked closely with out of state promoters during its large concert days. While in Jackson, Pearl met Charlton Alexander Anderson in Jackson and they were married in 1945. During their early years together, they lived in downtown Jackson and became active members of First Baptist Church Jackson, serving and teaching. They later became members of Broadmoor Baptist Church, where they were active until Pearl relocated to Dallas, TX to be near her children.

While raising two children and working part time, Pearl enjoyed social, church and civic groups. She lived a life of service to others mainly through the Baptist Woman's Missionary Union, the P.E.O. Chapter of Jackson, MS, various PTAs and by caring for extended family members. She supported her church's mission activities, youth choirs & Boy Scouts and loved nurturing the younger generation. Pearl also was a member of several bridge and luncheon groups within Jackson.

During her retirement years in Texas, she supported the community through Park Cities Baptist Church where she became an active member and volunteer. When diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2002, she returned to Jackson to be near her daughter's family. FBCJ graciously reclaimed her through their homebound ministry.

So many family and friends will miss this genteel, Christian lady. Pearl is survived by her son, Bob Anderson & his wife, Dyan of Dallas, TX; daughter, Charlotte & husband, Ed Scott of Ridgeland, MS; her sister, Hazel Klamecki of Tampa, FL. Grandchildren, Alexine Cryer(Judd), Dallas, TX; Heather Hengesteg(David), Houston, TX; Blake Scott and Austin Scott, both of Ridgeland, MS will all miss their "Mimi". She was blessed with great-grandchildren Arden Cryer, Channing Cryer and Ben Hengesteg.

Visitation is at 1:00 pm Saturday, 12/20/14, at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland with the service beginning at 2:15 pm. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Jackson's Lottie Moon International Mission offering or the Alzheimer's Association.
