A celebration of the life of Mary L. Campbell was today in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service.

Entombment followed at Oakhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.

Mary passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. She was 85.

Born in Clinton, OK on May 16, 1928 Mary was one of four children gifted to John and Audrey (Fisher) Marrs.

Referred to as being tougher than boot leather by her family, a title that was earned at her birth—weighing only a pound and a half, Mary's parents carried her out of the hospital in a shoebox on a pillow. This was the first miracle in her life that she survived.

In her adult years Mary battled cancer three times and even though she refused chemotherapy she was once again a survivor which was the second miracle in her life.

On May 14, 1971 in Miami, OK, Mary married Charles Campbell. He was not only the love of her life but the perfect father and role model for her children.

Mary loved taking care of her family and even though she had a career at RCB bank for 25 years it was the career as homemaker that she treasured.

Mary was always involved in any and all of the activities of her children and when the grandchildren arrived they too became the recipient of Mary's attention and support.

Much to everyone's surprise, Mary did find free time to do the things that brought her much enjoyment whether it was spending countless hours gardening or tending to the beautiful roses, lilies, and peonies that adorned her yard.

Mary was an OSU fan but only if the OKC Thunder wasn't playing. It was said by her family that when a televised game of the Thunder was delayed she stayed up till 2:00 a.m. to cheer for her favorite team. Her family also said that Mary was an accomplished bowler and that she has the boxes of trophies to prove it.

Mary was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was grounded in her beliefs.

This loving mother grandmother and friend will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Mary is survived by her children Mary Faught, Connie Quintion, and Mike Waymire and wife Monica; eleven grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren; special friend and sister in law Susann Upton; brothers James Marrs and wife Irene and Johnny Marrs and wife Christy.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Charles; sister Martha; son in laws Stan and Ralph and grandson Duane.
