HEART ATTACK FATAL TO JOHN R. MARQUESS, 79

John R. Marquess, 79, passed away this morning at 8:30 at his home, 714 West Seventh Street, after a severe heart attack.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at Wood-Fuqua and Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. L. L. Spurlin will conduct services, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Maddox.

Mr. Marquess was a former resident of the Cadiz Road and was a successful farmer for many years. He was prominently affiliated with the Republican Party.

Mr. Marquess was married in Feb. 1901 to Miss Tessie Glenn Smith , who died in Jan. 1936. In Dec. 1940 he was married to Miss Maybel Dillman Jameson.

His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maybel Jameson Marquess; two daughters, Mrs. A. N. Buchanan of Herndon and Mrs Charles Rives of Pembroke; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Harralson and Miss Ella Marquess of Cedar Lake, Indiana.
