Rose E. Coy, daughter of Carey and Levina Mapes, was born in Henry County, Ill., July 14, 1862. In 1866 she moved with her parents to Republic county, Kansas, and with the exception of two years it has since been her home.
She was married to Wm. Coy, September 14, 1870. She was converted in her early girlhood and became a member of the Christian church
For the past four years she had been a great sufferer, yet with patience, waited and was ready when the long expected summons came, and she peacefully fell asleep in Jesus, December 9, 1900, at Belleville, Kan., leaving to her friends and family the assurance that all was well with her soul. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn the loss of a wife and mother.
The funeral was preached by Rev. Leah Bales at the old Cuba school house, December 10, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.
