Nellie E. (Kerr) Mancini, 91, of Apollo, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at West Penn Allegheny Heath System, Forbes Campus, in Monroeville. She was born June 1, 1917, in Vandergrift, the daughter of the late Howard M. and Mary A. (Kirch) Kerr. Nellie was a resident of Apollo most of her life, except for a 15 year period when she worked as a head cashier for Krogers in Cleveland, Ohio, and also for a small period of time when she resided in Oklahoma, Pa. Nellie is a member of the Saint James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo. She was the owner of Lew's Dairy in Apollo where she most enjoyed her interaction with friends and patrons. Nellie loved ceramic classes, Bingo, bowling and playing cards. She was the proud mother of two children, son, John L. Mancini, of Greenwood, S.C., and daughter, Loretta M. Moglia, who passed away in 2004; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Nellie was most appreciative of her grandson, Joey Moglia and his wife, Jennifer, of Bell Township, and her great grandson, their son, Nicholas, who attended to all her needs during her stay at Westveiw Manor. Nellie was a resident there since the year 2000. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene L. Mancini; and her twin brother, Nick Kerr. At Nellie's request, there will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Roman Catholic Church, in Apollo, with the Rev. John T. Sweeney as celebrant. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
