Clara Elizabeth Manahan, known as Bess, was the youngest child of William Edward Manahan and May Wooldridge. After the death of her parents, she lived with her brother and sister-in-law, John and Bonnie Willard Manahan. On 9 May 1935, she married Marvin A. Harris. Her only child, Bobby Joe Harris, was born in 1936. Bobby Joe preceded her in death in 1992; he had three children: Deborah; Elizabeth; Michael. For many years, Bess operated a beauty salon in an annex to her home. Marvin Harris died in 1969. Bess married Dr. Leslie Lee Bonner, a widower, in 1976. After his death in 1981, she continued to live in Fairfield.
