Pauline S. Smith of Denton, MD, died Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. She was 73 years old. Born in Denton on April 19, 1938, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Donald Shaffer and Elizabeth Allston Maloney. Her husband, Harold E. Smith, died December 12, 2010. Mrs. Smith had lived in Queenstown, MD for many years. She had worked for Potter's Pantry in Queenstown and Bennett's Point Store in Grasonville. Mrs. Smith is survived by four sons: Donald Wayne Holland of Queenstown, Gene Smith, Jr. of Denton, James “Jimmy” Smith, Sr. of Church Hill, MD, and William Kevin Smith, Sr. of Denton; two sisters: Deborah Ciolek and Virginia Fluharty, both of Denton; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and her faithful best friend yellow lab, Lucky. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward Charles Smith, Sr. and two granddaughters: Mandy and Terri Smith. Funeral services will be 1 PM on Tuesday, November 22nd, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton where friends may call from Noon to 1 before the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery, 24865 Meeting House Road, Denton.
