Hugh Robert Malone, 66, of Phoenix, Ariz., died May 8, 2008. He was born in Kersey, son of Maurice and Marie Malone. He was the youngest of four children being predeceased by his sister Betty Swanson and brother Maurice S. Malone. He attended St. Boniface grade school, and Kersey High where he graduated as Salutatorian. He attended Penn State University, where he was a member of many academic honor societies, and received his BS in engineering. He received his Master's of electronic engineering from ASU. He was a 38-year member of Motorola Government Division spending his last four years with General Dynamics before retiring. He received many patents over the years. As a member of the scientific Advisory Committee, he was awarded the Dan Noble Fellowship.

He is survived by his loving wife Lustre Marie, his beloved daughter Mollie Marie Mayer and her husband Michael David Mayer, sister Peg Welz, sister-in-law Pat Malone, sister and brother-in-law Sherrill and Jim Westin, with many nieces and nephews, and cousins in both Arizona and Pennsylvania. He was a gentleman and a scholar. He had a grand sense of humor which he enjoyed sharing. He was the consummate man of all trades redoing his sprinkler system, building a computer desk, pre-planning vacations which he shared with Lustre and earlier Mollie, and golf, boating, and hunting wildlife with camera, among myriad other interests. A loyal Catholic all his life, Hugh Robert Malone's funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd. in Phoenix, Ariz., on Wednesday, May 14, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation the previous evening, Tuesday, May 13, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd. from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
