LANSING, IL

Sonja E. Malinski (nee Bohl), age 86 of Lansing, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 with her loving family by her side.
She is survived by her five children: Christine Blue, Kurt (Pam) Malinski, Robert (MaryAnn) Malinski, Carla (Tom) Fielder, and Kerry (Shelly) Malinski; 11 grandchildren: Robert Blue, Michael Blue, Katie (Brian) Shim, Joe (Marissa) Malinski, Daniel (Pam) Malinski, Karen (Bob) Drzewiecki, Nick Fielder, Bryan Fielder, James Malinski, Katherine Malinski, and Heather (George) Allen; and 12 great grandchildren: Sarah, Riley, Isobel, Aspen, Raven, Daeson, and Aiden Blue, Kailyn and Penny Malinski, Abby Leah and Brandon Drzewiecki, and Devoni Allen.
Mrs. Malinski was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert L. Malinski; parents: Emil and Bertha (nee Buchler) Bohl; five brothers; one sister; and one son-in-law. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 beginning with prayers at 9:30 AM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, and proceed to St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Rd., Lansing, for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ingalls Hospice.
Mrs. Malinski was born in Moosehorn, Manitoba, Canada. She worked as a supervisor at CNA Insurance Co. in Chicago. Sonja was a member of St. Ann's Women's Guild, a Meals-on- Wheels volunteer, Lansing Historical Society volunteer, and Cub Scout leader.
