Mary Martha Malan Gaskill, 73 passed away on Wednesday at her home with her loving family by her side. She was diagnosed with Gallbladder Cancer in September.

She was an active leader at Ogden High School and at Weber College. Spending her whole life in Ogden she became a big contributor to the Ogden community. Through her business, Trends & Traditions, and working on 25th S treet for over 25 years she saw the vision for what Ogden could be and enjoyed seeing the fruits of her labor as it became more vibrant.

One of the best words to describe Mary was devoted. Her devotion to her family, garden and friends was what made her tick. The most kind and loving Mother any two children could ask for. Mary was an excellent skier, graceful with impeccable form. She loved to ski Snowbasin especially with her children. She was the one at every child’s sporting event, with the best treats and always made sure her children and grandchildren never went without.

She was a fantastic cook and she loved trying new things. When asked how she made it, Mary would say “I follow the recipe, and then I add my own personal touch”. She was gifted in making people feel special. Birthdays and holidays in her home were extraordinary.

She was our best friend, our mentor, and our advocate. We looked up to her unique style, generosity, endless talents, and fun loving nature. Her friends and family won’t forget her laugh, her pony tail, and ’56 Olds were her high school trademark.

Everybody says and thinks they have the best Mom and we have to tell you that it’s
never truer than with ours. It’s broken our hearts to lose her at the young age of 73 when we all expected her to be here well into her 90’s. Traditional Sunday dinners will never be the same without her extravagant creations. Her home was our refuge; there was no more peaceful place. It’s been hard to watch her sadness as she knew she would miss seeing her grandchildren grow up.

She leaves behind her son Nick and daughter-in-law, Talena; her daughter, Angie and son-in-law, Vinicio; six grandchildren, Isaac, Emilia, Charlie, Ellie, Grady and Adalie; her brother, Lloyd and Ann and sister, LoRaine and Arlo who all loved and adored her.

Finally thank you to our Dad for getting back into Mom’s life and taking care of her down the stretch. One of the last things she said to him was that she had missed him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society or take someone you love out for a good time.
