Gouverneur, Jan. 31. Mrs. Frances A. Baldwin, widow of Levi Baldwin, died last Friday night at her home. Her death followed an illness of several weeks. She was aged 76 years and 5 months. Her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Baldwin was born at Theresa, Aug 7, 1840, daughter of Elihu and Emily Makepeace Church. Her early life was spent in Theresa. She attended both the Ogdensburg academy and Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary. After her marriage in 1863 to Mr. Baldwin they lived in Oxbow, where she resided until two and a, half years ago. Mr. Baldwin died in 1896. She was a devout member of the Methodist church and active in the church affairs.
Three sons and a daughter survive her, John and Oris, of Gouverneur; Lymon of Oxbow, and Miss Frances Baldwin of Gouverneur; two sisters, Mrs. Owen Evans, of Anaconda, Mont., and Mrs. Eva Bailey of Ravella, Mont., also survive.
