Josie Maez Garcia A resident of Santa Fe since 1941, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at La Vida Hermosa in Santa Fe, NM on February 10, 2010. Josie was born September 19, 1910 at La Manga, N. M., to Alfredo Maez and Rosella Muniz .She married Henry V. Garcia in 1930 and that marriage lasted 63 years until his death in 1993. Mrs. Garcia was primarily a home maker while raising their nephew, J. I. Nash Garcia. She did, however, at times work for the State of New Mexico, Motor Vehicle Department and the State Legislature, and in the 1950s for Gallanter Jewelers. Mrs. Garcia was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, a member of the Alter Society and Catholic Daughters of America, St. Elizabeth Court 2254. She was also active in La Sociadad Folklorica. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and their wives, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and four nephews. She is survived by ten nieces, four nephews and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews. The grand nieces and grand nephews will serve as Honorary Pall bearers. Rosary service will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 5 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel on Luisa Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 8, at St. John's Catholic Church on Osage Ave., with internment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
