ALEXANDRIA — Bonnie J. Maddox, 84, Alexandria, was called home to be with her Lord on Nov. 4, 2007, from the Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness.

Born Aug. 3, 1923, in Summitville, daughter of Ozro M. Adams and M. Addline (Weaver) Adams, she resided in the Summitville/Alexandria area all of her lifetime.

Bonnie was a 1941 graduate of Summitville High School. She had worked at the Hoosier Meat Market, formerly of Alexandria. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star 178, formerly of Alexandria. She enjoyed the years that she and her family spent camping and fishing on Manistee River in Michigan. Together, Bonnie and her late husband Ogden built their home where they shared many hours gardening and bird watching. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, crocheting, playing euchre and antiquing. Bonnie took a great amount of pleasure in her great-grandchildren.

Surviving are sons, Dennis O. (Kella) Maddox and Allen "Brent" (Dorothy) Maddox, all of Alexandria; grandchildren, William C.A. "Tiny" (Jeanne) Maddox, Jennifer (Roger) Ward, Brent (Tiffany) Maddox, Hannah Maddox, all of Alexandria, and Adam Maddox, Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Delaney, Olivia and James Ward, Owen Maddox and Alec Nelson; brother, Esta Adams, Anderson; sister, Marjorie Michael of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband of 53 years, William Ogden Maddox, on April 9, 1999; sister, Mabel Woods; and niece, Dorothy Stapleton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Noffze Funeral Home, Alexandria, with the Rev. Edsel Joyner of Orestes Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
