COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 11/05/2002 - BARDSTOWN
James Defraine Mackin, 78, of Nelson County, Ky, died Sunday, November 3, 2002, at his home in Samuels, Ky. Jimmie was a farmer and a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown. He was a lifelong member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Samuels and an active member of the 461st Bombardment Reunion Group and St. Joe Prep Alumni Association. His parents, Benjamin and Pearl Weathers Mackin; three brothers, Leo, Joseph and Richard Mackin; four sisters, Mary E. and Marie Mackin, Alice Cecil and Aline Demar; and one grandchild preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Iva Jean Mackin; two daughters, Mary Greenwell and Ann Ewing; three brothers, Charles, Happy and Bill Mackin; two sisters, Sr. Grace Mackin and Pat Mattingly; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The funeral service for James D. Mackin will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County, St. Gregory Church Building Fund (Samuels) or to the First Christian Church Building Fund, Bardstown, Ky.
