Nancy M. French 87, of Joplin passed at 11;30p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at a local nusing home after an illness.
Nancy was born October 12, 1924 in Evanston Illinois to the late Robert Macfarland and Louise Hammond Macfarland and had lived in Joplin several years moving from Hollister, Mo.
She was a veteran of the United States Navy, She served during World War 11, working in communications at the Pentagon. Following her military involvement she worked for 25 years at Colt Industries in Quincy Ill. retiring in 1980.
Nancy was president of the Resident Council at National Healthcare Center where she had resided the past several years. She enjoyed painting and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann Davy and her husband Bob, Joplin. Mary Lou Tanniich, Spokane, Washington, one brother, Robert Macfarland, Buena Vista Arkansas. three grandchildren, Mark Goodwin and wife Sharon , Theresa Tannich, Robert Tannich' a step grandchild, Michael Davy and wife Cali and eight great grandchildren.
Nancy has been taken for cremation.
A memorial visitation is planned for Thursday from 4-6p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Nancy will have her cremains interred at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Springfield, at a later date
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, in care of Parker Mortuary.
