Eleanor Jean ‘Sis’ Cameron - 69. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Eleanor. Born one of eleven children to Nathan and Cassie MacPhail of Pictou, Eleanor was nicknamed ‘Sis’ at an early age, and it remained with her throughout her life.
In 1965 Sis met and married the love of her life, John, and together they had two daughters, Beverly and Tara. They lived in Dartmouth until John retired from the Navy in 1975, moving to Prince Edward Island until returning to Pictou in 1978, where Sis worked at the local IGA until 1996.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Mike) MacKenzie and Tara (Shawn) Robicheau; grandchildren, Trevor (Ashley) and Ben, Stephanie and Jill. She is also survived by sister, Annabelle; brothers, Jeff and Harvey; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John in 2012; and siblings, Sidney (killed in action), Walter, Roy, Ross, Joan, Patsy and Janet.
There will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Seaview Cemetery, with a reception to follow in St. James Anglican Church Hall, Pictou. No flowers by request. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
