Marjorie was graduated from Hornell High School in Hornell, NY, where she lived with her sister Nella (Pearce) Brown, wife of Attorney Harry K. Brown. In 1914 she was graduated from Mansfield Normal School, Mansfield, PA. She took nurse's training at St. Luke's Hospital, New York City. She began her teaching in a one-room school in Coudersport, PA, following that with substituting in high school at Hornell, NY. She served as the president of Women's Auxiliary of Christ Episcopal Church (1927-28) and was an elected member of the Republican County Committee for the 5th Electoral District, First Assembly District County of Steuben.
