Sir William MacDougall
Birth: Jan. 25, 1822
Death: May 29, 1905

Politician. MacDougall served as Lieutenant Governor of Rupert's Land and the Northwest Territories from October 1, 1869, to October 30, 1869, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Canada representing the areas of North Oxford from 1858 to 1863, North Ontario from 1863 to 1864, and North Lanark from 1864 to 1867, Commissioner for Crown Lands from 1862 to 1864, Provincial Secretary in 1864, Delegate to the Charlottetown, Quebec, and Westminister Conferences, Father of Confederation, Member of Parliament for the area of North Lanark from 1867 to 1872, Minister of of Public Works, Private Member of the House of Commons in 1872, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for South Simcoe from 1875 to 1878, and as a Member of Parliament for Halton from 1878 to 1883. MacDougall was knighted a Companion of the Bath in 1867, and in 1881 he was appointed to the Queen's Counsel. (bio by: K)
