Beloved mother, retired teacher with Hawaii D.O.E. (5th grade). She loved to snorkel, hike, snow ski, play bridge and laugh with dear friends. She came to Hawaii immediately after receiving her teaching degree from UCLA. Her Great Aunt, Grace, gave her a ticket to Hawaii on a Matson liner. Famed Waikiki beachboy, entertainer and waterman Kepoikai "Splash" Lyons introduced her to his nephew, Merlyn Lyons, when he got out of the Navy.

She came to Hawaii, taught at Punahou School for a brief time, later became a teacher with the Hawaii Dept. of Education. She loved education and her students. Thank you, Aunt Grace for giving my mother a one-way ticket to O'ahu Hawaii!
