Mary (Lutsey) Boyer, 101, formerly of Slocum Township, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at the Berwick Retirement Village I.

Born July 22, 1912, in Slocum Township, she was the daughter of the late James and Susan (Whitebread) Lutsey.

Mrs. Boyer was a graduate of Newport High School.

Mary was of the Methodist faith and most recently was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Berwick.

In addition to her church, her memberships included the Slocum Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Slocum VFW Ladies Aid.

Among her interests were quilting and bingo. She was an avid Phillies fan.

Preceding her in death were her son: Harry Boyer; three brothers: John, Richard and Joseph Lutsey, and one sister: Guida.

Surviving are her five grandchildren: Charlie, Glenn and Terry Boyer, Janelle Surkin and Dusty Boyer; nine great-grandchildren: Jennifer Rangel, Bryan Boyer, Samantha Boyer, Quenten Boyer, Victoria Surkin, Pamela Gorzynski, Nick Rockey, Jessica and Bryn Surkin, and one great-great-grandson: Riley Boyer.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Mount Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, Lily Lake Road, Slocum Township, with the Rev. Dennis McCracken, her pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, 1135 Orange St., Berwick, PA 18603.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mayo Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick.
