Martin passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's dementia at age 83.

He was born in Portland to Harvey Boyd Lusk and Georgia Martin Lusk. Martin joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served in the Construction Battalion (Sea-Bees) until he was injured during the course of his service and became disabled. Martin returned to Oregon to begin a new career as a Teamster truck driver with Oregon Nevada California (ONC) Truck Lines, where he ultimately worked for nearly 35 years and achieved the status of a "Million Miles" twice for his long tenure of safe driving. Martin met and married Janice A. Pearson in 1956 and together they raised four daughters. The family logged many miles in many states in various RVs, starting with a camper known as the "Lusk Lodge". Martin was preceded in death by his parents and son, James. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jan; daughters, Amy Lemon (Robert), Kathryn MacNeil (Michael), Margaret Wolcott (George) and Patricia Lusk; grandchildren, Audra MacNeil, Jennifer MacNeil, Ashton Wolcott Foster, Colton Wolcott; great-grandchild, Gracie Foster; and his two sisters, Nancy and Susie.

Services to be held on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012. To join the military graveside service at Willamette National Cemetery, please meet at Lincoln Memorial Park at 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97086 at 9:15 a.m. The memorial service and reception to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park.
