Sylvia S. Hanson, 80, was born Dec. 5, 1908 in Austin, to Olianna and Ole Lunde. From birth until her marriage in 1932, she resided in Adams, Minn. From 1932 until 1959 she lived in Elkton, Minn. She resided in Austin the remainder of her life, the past three years at Pickett Place. Mrs. Hanson attended the Adams Public Schools and St. Olaf College. On Oct. 9, 1932, in Adams, Minn., she was united in marriage with Gerald Hanson. Through the years, Mrs. Hanson was active in the Elkton Upstreamers 4-H Club, the Grand Meadow Order of the Eastern Star, Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, and St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin. Mrs. Hanson died June 27, 1989, in Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

She is survived by a son, Warren Hanson, New Richmond, Wis., daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Marlys) Greenlee, Northfield, Minn., and Marilyn Stern, Omaha, Nebr.; sons-in-law, Stan Morrow, Mankato, Minn., and Harold Gramstad, Elk River, Minn.; Brother, H.E. (Pug) Lunde, Austin; brother-in-law, Herb Hanson, Elkton; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; aunt; uncle; many nieces, nephews, cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Hanson; daughters, Ruth Gramstad, Elk River, and Muriel Morrow, Mankato; and grandson, Blake Greenlee.

Funeral services were held June 30, 1989, in St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin, Rev. James Mikkelson officiating. Interment was in Little Cedar Cemetery, Adams. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Robert Hanson, David Hanson, Bruce Lunde, Craig Lunde, Brent Lunde, Floyd Engebretson. Soloists were Mrs. Dennis (Karen) Heimer and Bruce Lunde.

Sylvia was a Christian whose life was a testimony of her faith. Wherever she made her home, it was filled with love and surrounded by flowers. She was a special person to so many people and will be sadly missed.
