BLOUNTSVILLE -- Dimple Christine Lumpkin Gilbert, a retiree of the Social Security office in Birmingham, died Friday at her residence. She was 77.
Gilbert was a former resident of Mobile. During the 1950s, she worked at the Civil Service Commission and at Brookley Air Force Base.
She was a member of Nectar United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Frank C. Gilbert Sr. of Blountsville; two daughters, Doris Norman of Blountsville and Rebecca Ann Deshler of Mobile; one son, Frank C. Gilbert Jr. of Blountsville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Nectar United Methodist Church.
Gilbert's body was donated to the University of Alabama in Birmingham for scientific study. Burial will be announced later this year.
Arrangements were by Lemley Funeral Chapel in Oneonta, Ala.
