Eleanor Lujan Garcia, age 96 of Milwaukie, Oregon died Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Milwaukie Convalescent Home, Milwaukie, Oregon. Eleanor was born July 21, 1916 in Santa Ana, Orange County, California.
She will be greatly missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Cayetano Lujan, Maria Bermudez Lujan; and siblings Raymond Lujan, Henry Lujan, Cayetano Lujan, Alfred Lujan, Candelaria Lujan, Carmen Rodriguez, and Ignacia Lujan.
Eleanor is survived by 2 siblings Tony Lujan of Santa Ana, California and Helen Whaley of Orange County, California; 4 children Richard Garcia, Sr. of Los Angeles, California, Grace Kowalski of Florence, Kentucky, Helen Hames of Milwaukie, Oregon, and Rosalie Garcia of Milwaukie, Oregon; 6 grandchildren, David Hames of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Michael Hames-Garcia of Eugene, Oregon, Terry Hames of Happy Valley, Oregon, Richard Garcia, Jr., of Whittier, California, Rosalie Garcia of Whittier, California and Danielle Foley of Indio, California; 9 great-grandchildren, Jack Hames & Eloise Hames of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Grace Hames of Happy Valley, Oregon, Tyler Kowalski-Foley, Jordan Foley, and Annaliza Foley of Indio, California, Sylvia Garcia, Selena Garcia, and Julian Garcia of Whittier, California.
Eleanor resided in Toppenish, Washington from 1941 to 1970 where she raised her four children. She was a Foster Mother for about seven years to many children in the Foster Care system in the State of Washington. After her youngest child began Junior High School, Eleanor began working at the Toppenish Convalescent Home where she worked for several years. She also lived in Billings, Montana, Portland, Oregon, Norton, Massachussetts, Huntington Beach, California, and Milwaukie, Oregon where she assisted her working daughters with the care of their young children.
