Florence Ludington Dorton Ford, 78, died Thursday in the home of her daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Howard) Bowman, on Brindale Drive.
She was born in Muncie, graduated from Muncie (now Central High School) in 1928 and attended Ball State University. Mrs. Ford was formerly employed at Ball Corp. and Ball Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Friends memorial Church, was a past worthy matron of Chapter 564 Order of Easter Star, New Burlington and a member of Inlow Springs Home Ec Club.
Surviving besides her daughter are two sons, Harold and Larry Dorton, Muncie; two stepchildren, Mrs. Victor Henry, Minnesota, and RogerW. Ford, Massachusettes; three sisters, Thelma (Mrs. Arthur) Marquell, and Edith (Mrs. Darrell) Jones, both of Muncie, and Grace (Mrs. Robert) Graffmiller, Southfield, Mich.; a brother, Harley Ludington, Captiva, Fla.; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Meeks Mortuary, with Harold Smock, pastor of Friends Memorial Church officiating. Interment will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling at the mortuary is 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday or before services Monday. Chapter 564 Order of Eastern Star will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
