M. Irene Dodson, 86, passed away at Belle Fourche Senior Care Center on Friday, August 17, 2007.
M. Irene (Ludington) Dodson was born May 16, 1921 at White Owl, SD. Her parents were Margaret Ruth Armour and George Ludington.
Irene was born and raised in the Black Hills area. She went to school in the White Owl area, and then lived at Three Forks, SD with Hazel and Paul Stutt. She then worked for Dr. Berry in Deadwood, SD.
On Sept. 2, 1939, she married Harold "Bill" Dodson in Deadwood, SD. He preceded her in death in February 1999.
Surviving her are three sons, Dale (Shirley), Spearfish; Neil (Elaine), Spearfish; and Ed (Debbie) Newell. Also surviving are her three grandsons, David (Jeanine), Sturgis; Michael, Brookings; Keegan Brunssen, special grandson, Spearfish. Granddaughters Teresa Dodson, Rapid City and Susanne Dodson, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sister, Doris Klute, Washington State.
Irene and Harold "Bill" lived and ranched in Marietta, near Edgemont, SD from 1948 to 1990. They then moved to Hot Springs, SD and in 1996 moved to Alliance, NE. In 1997 they bought their home and moved to Hemingford, NE. Irene moved to Spearfish in 2006 and lived at Edgewood Vista.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking for her family. She truly enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow. She also enjoyed visiting with everyone at the annual family reunions. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside memorial service at the Hill City Cemetery on Tuesday, August 21, 2007.
