William (Bill) E. Luckey, Age 70, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2011 at his home in West Jordan, UT surrounded by family. He was born May 1, 1941 in Denver, CO to William Edward Luckey and Thelma Ivy Berry. He served his country in the U.S. Army for six years as an MP and received an honorable discharge in 1968. He was a proud member of the SOD Tactical Squad for Prince Georges County MD Police Department from 1968 to 1973. He then married the love of his life Jean Wright-Velasquez on August 22, 1973. After relocating to Utah he enjoyed a 23-year career in the wholesale flooring business where he operated his own business and worked for the Carpet Giant. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking and just plain being outdoors. His most proud accomplishments were being a police officer and father.
He is survived by his wife Jean and children, Paul (Mary) Velasquez, Christine Velasquez, B.J. (Sandi) Luckey and Cindy (Scot) Sheppick. He had seven grandchildren (Dakota, Leslie, Justin, Madison, Kyle, Brenden, and Bailee). Preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law Joseph and Elaine Cummings.
A tribute will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 29, 2011 between 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary (6500 So. Redwood Road) where friends and family may share personal stories and pay last respects. There will be no graveside services.
