Leon G Luce was born in Stark County, Illinois, September 18, 1865, and died June 18, 1917, aged 51 years, 9 months and 7 days.

In 1872 he moved with his parents to Clarke County, Iowa, from whence he moved to Missouri in 1902, and in the spring of 1910 he moved to his present home east of Van Wert.

He was united in marriage with Miss Lillis L Oaks in 1886. To this union four children were born, Levi A, Flossie M, Miles L, and Ethel J, all of whom were present at the funeral. He made a profession of Christianity during a meeting held in Van Wert in 1912.
Mr Luce has always been an honored and respected citizen. He was of a cheerful disposition, and possessed the art of getting along well with all whom he had dealings. With his going there goes one whom all who knew him will miss.
He seemed to be recovering from the accident which befell him when Friday night there was a sudden change for the worse. From then on he suffered intensely until death occurred about 8 pm June 18th.

Surviving and mourning his death are his wife, 4 children, 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.

The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday, June 20, at 10 am conducted by Rev. Weyrauch, pastor of the M E church at Van Wert, after which the body as laid to rest in Maple Hill cemetery.
