Mrs Hulda Loy-Baldwin, daughter of David and Elizabeth Loy, was born in Dark county, Ohio, Nov 18, 1844, and passed from this life at her home four miles west of Clarinda, April11, 1937, at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 23 days. She was one of thirteen children, all of whom have passed away except Julia Brown of Milford, Kans.

In 1853, when 9 years of age, she came to Page county, where she continued to live until the end of life. She first lived northwest of Yorktown, near the Tarkio river, later at the home where she died and where she had lived for about 60 years.

She was united in marriage to John Baldwin in 1869. Two children were born to them, Mrs Etta Hixon of Sioux Falls, S. Dak, and Mrs Minnie Green who preceded her in death March 23, 1930. She leaves seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, and many friends and acquaintances.

Mrs Baldwin was a real pioneer in this section of the state. She came from Ohio by ox team more than 83 years ago and endured the hardships incident to pioneer life. Her experiences span a period of history longer than that of Clarinda. Honor is due our pioneers who helped to lay the foundation of a great state.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 14, 1937, at 2:30 pm, Rev B.F. Hall officiating. Pallbearers were D.D. Stitt, William Miller, William Chapman, Charley Snodderly, George Annan, Will Snodgrass. Interment was made in the Clarinda cemetery. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Apr 15, 1937
