Mrs. Esther V. Denius, 98, longtime resident of South Williamsport, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at the Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.
Mrs. Denius was a life-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church at South Williamsport. She had been involved with Sunday school classes and had taught Bible School at the church. She had also been active in the South Williamsport Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.) years ago.
She had been employed as an usher at the former Park Theatre at Williamsport and had also been employed at the former Fazler's Grocery at South Williamsport. Esther had attended South Williamsport Schools.
Born Oct. 2, 1912, at Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Anna Ertel Loudenslager.
She was the widow of the late McClellan R. Denius, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1996. Together they shared 62 years of marriage. They were married at Messiah Lutheran Church of South Williamsport on July 11, 1933.
Surviving are her six daughters, Shirley and her husband, Donald Fullmer of DuBoistown, Barbara and her husband, Charles Bowman of Cape Carteret, N.C., Lucinda and her husband, James Bowman of Cumming, Ga., Pamela and her husband, Ronald Kanaskie of Riverside, Sharon and her husband, Steven Rupert of South Williamsport, Karon and her husband, Craig Gerace of Loyalsock Township, and her son Ronald and his wife Veronica Denius of Rantoul, Ill.; her 30 grandchildren, her 55 great-grandchildren, and her 15 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her late parents and her late husband, she was also preceded in death by her late sister, Hattie and her late two brothers, Carl and Victor.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S. Howard St., South Williamsport. Her pastor, Rev. Maurice C. Frontz, III, will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at East Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday morning, from 10 a.m., until the time of the funeral service at the church. The family respectfully declines to receive floral tributes and will provide the flowers. The family of Mrs. Esther V. Denius, respectfully suggests that contributions in her memory may be made, if so desired, to Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 S. Howard St., South Williamsport, PA 17702.
Arrangements are being directed by the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport.
