She was born Aug. 2, 1926, in East Machias, ME, the daughter of Josephine and Gates Longfellow. Jane was a 1943 graduate of Washington Academy in East Machias and a 1947 graduate of the University of Maine, majoring in English. On Aug. 7, 1948, she married William J. Cullen in Machias and together they raised their family and shared 59 wonderful years. Jane was employed in various positions in the Waterville schools, including teaching adult education, substitute teaching and serving in the Waterville High School library. Always very active in the Waterville community, she volunteered and served on the boards of the Waterville Public Library, the Maine Childrens Home for Little Wanderers, the Salvation Army, and the Waterville Women's Club. A lifelong bridge player, Jane loved both the game and her many friends and would play at any opportunity. She will always be remembered as a loving and loyal wife and mother.
She is survived by her devoted husband Bill; her son John and his wife Natasha; her daughters, Peggy and her husband Ron Jamo, Kate and her husband Brent Finemore; her grandchildren, Allyson and Heather Jamo, Andrew and Emily Finemore; great granddaughter, Layla Rose Cohen; her brother, Clarence Dennison; her sister, Priscilla Thompson.
She was predeceased by her brothers, John and David Longfellow.
