Betty Jane Longfellow
Betty Jane (Forshee) Longfellow, 73, of 4101 Trail's End Drive, a retired child care provider, died of cancer Monday, June 10, 2002 at a local nursing home.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Baptist Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur "Cotton" Longfellow of Great Falls; a daughter, Jan M. McKeown of Great Falls; sons Lee Longfellow of Hoopeston, Ill., Sid Longfellow of Ulm and Al Jon Longfellow of Denver; sisters Alberta Sapienza of Great Falls and Elva Lee Height of Missouri; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Betty was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Elvin Hall Forshee and Blanche Olive Horton Forshee, and was raised and educated there.
She married Arthur "Cotton" Longfellow on Sept. 16, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. They lived the majority of their married life in Hoopeston, Illinois. After Cotton retired, they moved to Great Falls on Sept. 2, 1987, to be with their daughter.
She was a retired child care provider and homemaker.
Betty was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and Great Falls Quilter's Guild. She loved to quilt, and donated many quilts and blankets to the Battered Women's Shelter. She enjoyed working word puzzles and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Luella and Tessie.
Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice or Fairview Baptist Church.
