Barbara A. Conrad, of McSherrystown, entered into God's eternal care December 7, 2013, in Hanover. She was the wife of Thomas J. Conrad to whom she was married 61 years.
Born October 23, 1933, in McSherrystown, she was the daughter of James L. and Anna G. (Ackerman) Long.
Barb was a lifetime member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown and was a 1952 graduate of Delone Catholic High School.
She was well known for her fabulous porch decorations and sugar cookies. Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her FAVORITE grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are six children; Anthony "Tony" Conrad and wife Cindy of Timonium MD, Thomas Conrad Jr. and wife Cheryl of Johnson City TN, Timothy L. "Tim" Conrad and wife Julie of Hanover, Terry Conrad and his wife Kari of Lewisburg, Tammy Benford and husband Chip of Parker Ford, and Christie Reichart and husband Mark of McSherrystown; 12 grandchildren, Krystle Thayer, Olivia Althoff, Gabrielle and Chloe Reichart, Conrad Benford, Lucas, Kyle, Liza, Hailee, Travis, Emily and Kasey Conrad, 4 great-grandchildren; Brady, Shane, Sophie and Bryce; two sisters; Rita M. Groft and Margaret M. Staub both of McSherrystown.
She was preceded in death by three daughters; Theresa, Tina and Trina Conrad and a grandson; Joshua Thomas Conrad.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am December 12, 2013,, at Annunciation Catholic Church, McSherrystown, with Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel and Rev. Lawrence J. McNeil concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received the 11th 6 to 8 pm at Murphy Funeral Home, McSherrystown, with the rosary recited at 8 pm.
