ABINGDON, Va. Julia Edith Long, 82, a former resident of the Black Hollow Section of Washington County, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013. She worked in the accounting department at Bristol Compressors and was retired from the Company. She was the daughter of the late John Barker White and Lyla Frances Newton White and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Denver Long. She is survived by three sons, Michael Waddell and wife, Hope of Abingdon, Virginia, Randy Waddell, and Joe Waddell both from Meadowview, Virginia; She is also survived by three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services for Julia Edith Long will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Mausoleum of the Knollkreg Memorial Park Cemetery in Abingdon, Virginia with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends at the Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. Active pallbearers will be Howard Kestner, Donnie Eastridge, Michael Davis, John Doss, Danny Ryan and G. C. Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Edith Long.
