Resident of San Leandro, Arlie T. Long, 91, passed away on Thurs., July 16, 2009 in Manteca, CA. Born May 6, 1918 in Tarton, OK he was the oldest of 7 children born to the late Clifford & Dicie Long. A longtime resident of San Leandro, he retired and moved to Clearlake; living there 22 years before moving to Manteca 8 years ago.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Ruby R. Long. Children, Reba Mattice of San Leandro, Shirley Dennison of Manteca, and Gary Chatham and wife Darlene of Sacramento. Seven grandchildren 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.

Arlie was devoted to his family and cherished them beyond words; he will be remembered as a sweetheart with a feisty personality.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laverne Cartmell, his parents and all six of his younger siblings. P. L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, is handling all funeral arrangements. Viewing will be held Sat,, July 25, 9 am to noon, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service. Burial will be held on Mon., July 27, 11 am at Lone Tree Cemetery, Hayward. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion. An online guest book is available to sign at www.plfryandson.com
