Kathryn Hale, age 92, of Durand, IL died at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in Medina Manor Nursing Center. "She died from having lived."
Born April 15, 1919, in Warren, IL the daughter of James and Cora (nee Foley) Long. Lived 40 years in Lake Summerset, IL coming here from Apple River. Married Walter Hale on Feb. 12, 1938, in Stockton, and had many happy years together. Kathryn was a homemaker. She served on the Lake Summerset Board where she also served as a past president; was a volunteer at the Lake Summerset Association; was a Eucharistic minister and active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Durand. She enjoyed playing bridge and scrabble. Graduated from Warren High School, class of 1936.
Survivors include daughter, Pat Hale of Mankato, MN; sons, Joel (Karen) Hale of Sleepy Hollow, IL and James Walter (Linda) Hale of Mason City, IA; grandchildren, Laura, Maryellen and Nicholas Hale and Benjamin, Jessica and Kimberly Hale; and sisters-in-law, Lillian Long and Norma Long.
Predeceased by her husband; daughter, Mary Ann Hawbaker; sisters, Vivian and Verlis; and brother, Donald.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in St. Mary Catholic Church, 602 W. Main St., Durand, with Msgr. Eric Barr officiating. Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, at McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main St., Durand. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
