Erma J. Dinger, 79, Punxsutawney, passed on to eternal life on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Clair O. and Florence M. (Holmes) London.
On Oct. 17, 1958, she married her childhood playmate Norman Dinger, who survives. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past October.
She was a member of the First Church of God of Punxsutawney, where she was a member of the church choir and The Living Christmas Tree.
She was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1952.
She worked as a clerk for Hunger's Office Supply, Wolf Furniture and Unilec. She was a travel agent for Deitz Travel in Brookville and was the custodian for the First Church of God for over fifty years, as well as a housekeeper for various friends.
She enjoyed her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She also took great pride in her home and loved entertaining her friends.
In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include two sons, Kirk Dinger and wife Amber of Spartanburg, S.C., and Scott Dinger and wife Nicole of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Alex and Carson Dinger of Spartanburg, S.C., and Sierra Dinger of Punxsutawney; two sisters, Margaret Kiehl of Brookville and Winona Hetrick of Punxsutawney; three brothers, David London and wife Sharon of Harrisville, Pa., Richard London and wife Sandra of Brookville and Darwin London and wife Linda of DuBois; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, and also from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the First Church of God of Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the First Church of God of Punxsutawney with Pastor Greg Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Olive Cemetery, Oliveburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God's Living Christmas Tree, The American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
