Helene Hedwig Lochner, 89 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away December 20, 2011. Mrs. Lochner was born December 23, 1921 in Berlin, Germany to Albert and Anna (Meyer) Schütze. Helene, from her costumes designed for German theater, to her portraits and needlepoint, always had an artistic creativity to whatever she touched. At 23 she studied at the University of Erlanger, receiving a master degree in design and there meeting her life mate, Karl Lochner. She began her life's journey in 1952, sharing an apartment with her inlaws before moving to Shreveport, where Karl was offered a job with an oil company. Helene learned to speak English, and volunteered her gift of costume design. After five years, they became American citizens, moving to Tulsa where Karl began work with Sun Oil. In 1967, they continued to live in both Tulsa and Wyoming until retirement settled the couple in Tulsa in 1983. Helene's volunteer work made her popular at church, symphony, opera, the Republican Women's Group and the Tulsa Little Theater. Helene is survived by her godchildren Michael and Sandy Haesloop. She is preceded in death by her husband Karl Lochner, parents Anna and Albert Schütze, and sister Ursula Jäger.
