KERRVILLE — Lois Juanita Littlefield passed from this life surrounded by her family on Monday, March 4, 2013, at Peterson Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 26, 1926, in Harper, Texas, to William and Jessie Cosper. Growing up in Harper, she attended school there with her seven siblings and many cousins. She married the love of her life, Walter Lott, while he was serving in the military; after his return they lived on a ranch outside of Bandera, Texas, where their daughter, Sandra Kennedy, was born. Later on they moved to Kerrville, where they lived and worked on the Bircklebach Ranch on Bear Creek. She married P.E. Littlefield in 1966, and they had one daughter together, Tanya Littlefield.
She worked many years for the original Bernhard's Locker Plant in Ingram, Texas; after the business sold, she worked for the new owner of Bernhard's Meat Processing on Junction Highway. She loved working and reluctantly retired in 2011 due to health issues. She made many friends through the years, and it was often said that she never went anywhere in town that she did not see someone she knew to stop and visit with.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and her second husband. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Audley Cosper, Simon Cosper, Glenn Cosper; and one sister, Iva Sellers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Sandra Kennedy of Kerrville and Tanya Littlefield of La Grange, N.C.; and one grandson, Shan Ballard and Suzanne of Kerrville. She also is survived by two sisters, Jo Maxine and husband, Bill Hatley of Temple and Mozell Cowsert of Kerrville; one brother, Hoover Cosper and wife, Joyce of Mora, La.; two nieces; and 10 nephews. She also leaves behind three cousins that she had a special bond with, Jessie Lee of Irvine, Calif., and Lora Walker and Betty Joy Friedrich of Harper. Among the many friends she made while working at Bernhard's, she shared a special relationship with Milton and Betty Bernhard, Jessie Alvarado and Gloria Vlasek.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Thomas Jeffers officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shan Ballard, Bill Sellers, Ben Cowsert, Tim Cowsert, Ron Hatley and C.A. Cowsert.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
