Eva Anne Litchfield was the daughter of William Joseph "Joe" Litchfield and his wife, Sallie Craft. She was born in what was then Princess Anne County, Virginia (now Virginia Beach city). She married James Edward "Ted" Batten on April 10, 1918 in what was then Princess Anne County, Virginia.

Eva Litchfield Batten, 95, died Nov. 28, 1992, in Lynn Shores Manor, Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Batten was born in Princess Anne County, Va. She retired as a deputy clerk with the Circuit Court of Virginia Beach. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Back Bay, and was the widow of James Edward Batten.
Survivors include a son, Joseph E. Batten of Virginia Beach; and four grandsons.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Oak Grove Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Joe Brewer. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. "
