Beverly A. Litchfield, of Norwell, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Nov. 29, 2011, at age 84. Beverly was the loving wife of Myron F. Litchfield. With her radiant passion for birds, Beverly was best known as a teacher naturalist, avid birder, wildlife rehabilitator and bookkeeper. Remembered as "The Owl Lady", she introduced thousands of children and adults to the wonders of nature using live owls and other wild birds. Beverly was a founding member of Manomet Observatory for Conservation Sciences, South Shore Natural Science Center, North and South Rivers Watershed Assn., and South Shore Antique Auto Club. She was an enthusiastic member of South Shore Bird Club, Mass. Audubon Society, National Audubon Society, Wompanoag Paddlers, Scituate Historical Society, and First Baptist Church of Scituate. Ever beside her loving husband of 61 years, Myron, a U.S. Marine, she embraced a life of passion, discipline and strong faith in God. Proud of her native Scituate and Scottish heritage, Beverly was at times feisty and stubborn. Her sunny disposition, sea-blue eyes, easy smile and a heart of gold will endear her to all whose lives she touched. Beverly is survived by her husband, Myron; three children, Marcia (Mark) Wilson of Dunstable, David of Pembroke and Jeffrey (Alice) of Duncan, S.C.; two grandchildren, Derek and Sean Litchfield; and one great-grandchild, Mikayla. A funeral service will be held at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, Monday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m., followed by burial in Groveland Cemetery, Scituate. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly's memory may be made to Manomet Observatory for Conservation Sciences, Attn: Bird Banding Laboratory, P.O. Box 1770, Manomet, MA 02345. For information and online condolences, please visit www.richardsongaffeyfuneralhome.com. Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home 781-545-0196
