JACKSONVILLE, FL-Edith M. Atkinson, of River Gate Trail in Jacksonville, FL., passed away on August 31, 2000. She was born December 9, 1915 the daughter of James and Grace (McVicker) Lewis. Both parents preceded her in death.

On June 16, 1939 she married Warren Atkinson, who preceded her in death. They lived in Hartford City until 1966 when they moved to Dallas, TX with the Overhead Door Co., staying there until 1989. After retirement, they moved to Jacksonville, where Edith lived the last 11 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Rev. Edie (Dr. Neil Rodman) Rodman of Kensinger, CA; a son Mark W. (Dallas) Atkinson of Jacksonville, FL; four Grandchildren, Vanessa (Ford) Drummond, Michaela Shank, Emily Atkinson, and Ian Atkinson; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Virginia Drummond and Russell Drummond.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Louise Lewis and Anne Beal of Hartford City and Harriett G. Houseman of Toledo, OH.

Mrs. Atkinson was a high school math teacher as well as Kindergarten and Preschool teacher. She belonged to the Federated Women's Club and Grace United Methodist Church, as well as being an expert crafts woman, knitter, seamstress; an excellent musician, playing the violin, and an excellent soloist.

A memorial service will be held Saturday 9/16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Keplinger Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Friends may visit the family 2 hours before the Service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hartford City Cemetery.
