The stone appears to have been erected by her son-in-law, Charles E. Simpson, in the 1920s on the lot purchased by her husband, David probably in the 1850s. It may have replaced an earlier deteriorating stone or stones. Twenty members of the extended Simpson family are buried in the lot, as shown on the lot card, at right.
