Eugene Lewis Sr was born the fourth child of six children to Alex Lewis and Amanda Drones Lewis in Milam County, Texas on September 11, 1895. He resided in Cleburne, Texas, but spent his last days in Dallas, Texas at the VA Hospital.

PVT Eugene Lewis Sr served in WWI in the US Army from June 20, 1918 through August 10, 1919 in Texas. He served in the US Army Company A 342 Service Battallion Quartermaster.

At the time of his death, he was married to Willie K. Dorsey-Lewis. Eugene and Willie K. Lewis were the parents to five children.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Willie K Lewis and five children -Eugene Lewis Jr., Johnnie B . Lewis, Nettie S. Lewis, Charles Lewis and Shirley Temple Lewis; and brother, Aranious Lewis, and sister, Annie Bell Lewis Posey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Lewis, and mother Amanda Drones-Lewis; and his siblings Fletcher Lewis, Pearl Lewis White and James Lewis.

His son Charles Lewis accepted is US Military Headstone on behalf his mother, Willie K Lewis and wife of Eugene Lewis Sr.

He is buried in Branchville Cemetery (Old Providence Cemetery) along with other members of the Lewis Family.
