Margaret Eleanor L. "Maggie" Field was a daughter of Hugh H. Field (c. 1811-1890s, son of Jeremiah Field & Eleanor Sherwood, born NC, died California) and his second wife, Margaret A. Bullock, c. 1835-1860s, born in Kentucky) who were married 19 Sept. 1854.

Hugh had had three children by his first wife Catherine, and later had five by his third wife Ellen. Catherine had previously been married and had at least two children, so Maggie had at least 10 half siblings, but I believe she was the only one born to Hugh & his second wife.

In 1870 Maggie was living with her half brother, Jeremiah Benton Field (c. 1840/1-before 1880) and his wife Sarah A. Bullock (c. 1841-aft. 1880, who I expect may have been her mother's sister) and she was still with the family in 1880, after Jeremiah's death. I think she probably joined her father out in California in the early 1880s. Sometime around 1887, she married William A. Field, Jr. (1852-1933). He was a cousin, a son of William Field (c.1820-1852) and his wife Cleopatra Henley (1824-1907) of Randolph County, NC.

William and Maggie were living in Shingletown, Shasta County, California in 1900. By 1910, they were in Grass Valley, Nevada County, California, where they were still living in 1930. William was a farmer. By 1930, they'd apparently moved into town, and lived at 314 Buena Vista St. William died in 1933, and by 1940, Maggie was living in San Diego with her nephew Hugh Bullock Field (1872-1953).
