Bettie Strong was born Feb 1882 in Webster Parish, Louisiana to William Nathan Strong and Mary Frances Mitchell Strong.The family moved to Jones Co., Texas in 1885 and finally settled in the 3rd Precinct area of Jones Co.,Texas. Bettie married Claude Lewis in 1907 at the home of Thomas and Lavina Lewis, Claude's parents.They continued to live and farm in the 3rd precinct area of Jones Co., the community was referred to as Nugent, which is no longer in existence. Bettie and Claude had three sons, Adrian, b. Jul. 1908, Virgil, b. Jan. 1910 and Joe B., b.Sept. 1911.Bettie passed away in Sept.1914.Claude Lewis never remarried.
