Artist. She was the twin sister of Rita Levi Montalcini. She attended the studio of F. Casorati in Turin and the engraving school of S. W. Hayter (1956) in Paris. In the 1950s she participated in some exhibitions of MAC (Movimento arte concreto) in Milan. In her works, the alternation and contrast of natural, artificial and symbolic elements, of organics and abstraction seem to be constant motifs, from the series "Lettere e dei Vasi" (1954-55), in which graphic research seems to be predominant, to the decidedly informal paintings and finally to the research on luminous kinetic structures and on curves (Archimedean spiral, Pareto's optimal curve, Whitney's folding curve) engraved on copper. Towards the end of the eighties, L.-M. begins to devote himself to the creation of aluminum sculptures: Connections of geometric surfaces in space, reminiscent of kinetic-luminous structures. In 1992 she published "Discordanze", a clear summary of her thoughts about herself. In 2001 her sister Rita dedicates the volume "Un universo inquieto: vita e opere di Paola Levi Montalcini".
