Ruth (Pfeil) Lentz, 83, a resident of St. Luke Manor, Hazleton, died early this morning at the St. Luke Manor, where she had been a guest the past year. Born in West Hazleton, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Catherine (Brandau) Pfeil, and had resided in the Hazleton area until 1939, when she moved to the Collingswood, in the Haddon Heights area of New Jersey. She had been employed in Hazleton by Bell of Pennsylvania, and later by New Jersey Bell. She was a member of St. Paul's Reformed United Church of Christ, West Hazleton.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Ferris R., who died in 1977; two sisters, Loretta Karchner, and Anna Mae Pfeil; and five brothers, Clyde, Martin, John, George, and William. Surviving are one sisters, Mrs. Margaret Woodring, Drums; one brother, Ernest III, Media; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 426 W. Broad St., Hazleton, with the Rev. Richard D. Abernethy, pastor of St. Paul's Reformed United Church of Christ, West Hazleton, conducting the services. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to St. Paul's Reformed United Church of Christ, 1 W. Broad St., West Hazleton.
