Iva Marcile L. Bagley, 85, of Huntsville passed away Thursday. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Marcile was born in Louisville, Ohio, to John and Adda K. Leiter. She graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor and master's degree in Library Science. She served as a missionary in England and Kentucky mountains for a few years before becoming a teacher. She was married in 1960 to Lester Bagley and moved to Huntsville where she worked as head librarian for Missile and Space Intelligence Center for 32 years. She earned her Ph.D. while working and rearing four children. Mrs. Bagley was one of the first women at Redstone Arsenal to receive a grade GS-13. Both Iva and Lester were active members of Southwood Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Redmon; and brothers-in-law, Leon Redmon and Charles McCalin.
Survivors include husband, Leonard Bagley; sons, Jeff Bagley of Huntsville and Jon R. Bagley and wife Gail of DeLeon Springs, Fla.; daughters, Jennifer Steele and husband James and Jana Cox and husband Jim, all of Huntsville; brother, Jack Leiter and wife Fran of Albany, Ga.; sister, Martha McLain of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and six grandchildren, two sets of twins, Julie and Jeff Cox and Jim and Jon Steele, and Jason Cox and Jessica Steele.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. She will lie in repose at the church one hour before the start of services. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Southwood Presbyterian Church with Will Spink officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
