Daniel was a dry goods merchant in Charleston
He served on the General Committee of the Non-Importation Association (1769) before the Revolutionary War. He was elected by the parishes of St. Michaels and St. Philips to the First Provincial Congress of SC in 1775. He was an active, life-long member of the Independent (Congregational) Church of Charleston and is listed on the 1788 Constitution of that congregation.
